City, County, & Red Cross Host Community Safety Fair

hurricane

This is from the City of Tallahassee:

To help residents prepare for hurricane season, area nonprofits and emergency management agencies will participate in a family-friendly safety fair with demonstrations and fun exhibits on Saturday, June 18. The event will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Capital Area Chapter of the American Red Cross, 1115 Easterwood Drive.

The first 250 people at the event will receive a free disaster preparedness bucket and critical starter supplies.

After picking up a bucket, attendees will go from exhibitor to exhibitor to collect supplies and learn about local resources for weathering and recovering from a disaster. More than 20 community response groups will be on hand to provide valuable information and supplies.

There will also be an opportunity available for kids to participate in Pillowcase Presentations at the top of every hour. This section is ideal for children in third through fifth grades.

A key element of surviving a disaster is having a plan. Learn more about local preparedness and resources by visiting the Leon County Emergency Information Portal at http://www.LeonCountyFL.gov/EI and the City of Tallahassee Emergency Management page at http://www.Talgov.com/emergency.

Seminole Manor Neighborhood Association’s new e-mail address

The Seminole Manor Neighborhood Association (SMNA) is pleased to introduce its new e-mail address: seminolemanorNA@gmail.com.

This new e-mail address is part of an ongoing effort to streamline and improve communications within Seminole Manor. Until recently, there were at least three different e-mail lists in use. Some people received e-mails on all three lists while others only got partial information. This new “master” list fixes that problem by sending out the same information to everyone.

All official notices of SMNA will be sent from this e-mail address, and you should use this e-mail address to report any items of concern or interest (both good and bad). Also, if there is information you’d like to share with others, send a request to seminolemanorNA@gmail.com, and we’ll try to share it with everyone.

Every effort will be taken to minimize the amount of e-mail sent out.   To help you filter through what you do or don’t want to read, the topic of the e-mail will be clearly defined in the “Subject” field. For example, if it’s about crime in the neighborhood, the subject line will say either “Neighborhood Watch” or “Crime Watch.”

Communication is a key component to keeping Seminole Manor a safe and enjoyable place to live.  However, if you would like to UNsubscribe, simply send us a note. On the other hand, if you know someone who wants or should be added, have them send us a note as well.

You can also subscribe to the SMNA e-mail list by visiting the Seminole Manor Neighborhood Association website at https://seminolemanor.wordpress.com.  While there, please take a moment to complete the online Neighborhood Registry form which allows us to understand the needs and concerns of residents.

The Seminole Manor Neighborhood Association is a 501(c)3 Non-Profit Organization. Participation is completely voluntary and no fees are collected. However, your tax-deductible donations are welcomed and put into the service of neighborhood improvement.
